HIV Entry by Jock Itch?

by IBCurious, May 06, 2006 12:00AM
Dear Doctor,
I have gained a great deal of knowledge and understanding about HIV and STD's from the questions and your responses on this website.  Thank you.  Yet I find myself emotionally at odds with rationality.
Several days ago I attended a strip club during a business trip.  Nothing really unusual happened.  I received only one dance and the dancer wore a bikini bottom (G-string); there was no hard grinding, but some bumping of genitals during the dance.  My concern is that I had a very bad case of jock itch at the time and now I am afraid that somehow her vaginal fluid may have found its way through my pants and onto that area of my groin.  Can this happen?  There was no visible sign of stain on my pants.  Am I losing my mind?  I am fearful and do not want to have sex with my girlfriend.  I do not want to jeopardize her, but she does not understand things like strip clubs.  We are for the most part pretty straight-laced.  What do I do?  Should I test for HIV or forget about it?

They call HIV and others sexually transmitted diseases because you have to have sex to get them.  There was zero risk of tranmission.  Do not get tested.  Yes, you should forget about it.

Doesn't your scenario seem absolutely ridiculous when you read it out loud?

You actually have to have sex in order to transmit HIV.
You need to educate yourself on STI's and HIV.

I will save MD HHH time and reiterate what he wrote to another person on here:

"All sexually active persons, outside monogamous committed relationships, should have routine testing for HIV and other STDs once a year. If it has been a year or more for you, this might be a good time."

Sorry you wasted $15.00.

No....there was no risk.

Well, if you remember, they used to fear being in the same room with someone with HIV.

Your anxiety and fear is not based on anything rational. It's purely an emotional reaction based on guilt about your "encounter" with the stripper. Put aside the fear of HIV and instead deal with that guilt - that is the source of your problem. I wish you well and all the best.

this site is comical

CL,

Probably is, in a way, pretty comical. Until you have to deal with getting an HIV test, that is. Then, suddenly, it's not so funny anymore.

Just a thought.

come on please.  Some people seriously need to get educated.
