(+) woman if the woman has HSV and passes it on to the man through skin-skin contact. That is, the HIV can infect through what would appear to be in-tact skin in association with HSV. Is a correct understanding?
Also, does oral HSV factor into an increased risk for HIV infection?
Oh. I was looking at the comments below from Dr. Hook and that was what I came away from it with . . .
"When persons with HIV have herpes outbreaks, there are increased amounts of virus present in the herpes lesions, making them more likely to be transmitted to others. Transmission of HIV does certainly occur in persons who have otherwise intact appearing skin.
