HIV Negative?

Doc I had participated in some risky behavior sexualy. That was March fourteenth of this year. I took the Home Access Test on June twenty eighth. My test results came back negative. During that window period though I had a sore throat with swollen glands. Developed white blemishes in my mouth and later had diahrea for more than a week. Can I be certain that I don't have it? What COULD these symptoms be? Thankyou.

Three months is plenty of time to wait to get an accurate test results. You can be 100% positive these symptoms are not due to HIV. These symptoms are synonomous with so many other ailments, it's not funny. How long did the sore throat last? If it lasted around a month, it sounds like mono. Even the white spots on your tongue, because any type of ailment that has an adverse effect on the immune system can cause that.

hello i was possible exposed on june 20 i waited 2 months the went to take a hiv pcr test that is suppose to detect the hiv virus after 28 days i went after 52 the results were negitive but i am still worried the test is not accurate my neck is sore often and i have white gums right below my teeth i was wondering if the pcr test is accurate after 2 months

ALL YOU NEEDED WAS A NORMAL ELISA TET AT 2 MONTHS.

I assume you got HIV-1 Proviral DNA PCR test done at 60 days.This is an extremely sensitive test and does put you in clear for the subtypes this test is primed for. The lab I got this test done said I don't need further testing and it puts me in all clear. Saying that, an ELISA at this point o time should act like icing on the cake, it being considered the GOLD standard... Congrats for negative PCR!!!

i know i wasted the money on the pcr test but do you guys belive that the negitive test is reliable??

I'll add my two cents in the hopes that the more the merrier: your 3 month home access test result is definitive and conclusive. You are do not have HIV.

I took a DNA PCR test at 28 days post "exposure". I am sorry that I did now. It did not convince me that I was really negative - I still went in for a 9 week and an eventual 6 month test (today, as a matter of fact - negative!). So, I spent $300 on a test that I ultimately did not believe. Ugh.

Also, about DNA PCR tests. I talked to a guy who used to post here through email. He visited a website that convinced him to get the DNA PCR test. It came back positive, even though, given his risk factors, he probably didn't have it. But, he was a mess, which is understandable. He had to wait another few weeks to take an ELISA and WB, during which time he felt like dying. Turns out, he was negative, as I hoped he would be. Had I to do it all over again today, I probably would not indulge in a DNA PCR test.

dude your 28 day test was reliable.  Everything eles was a waste.  You could have just done a single test at 6-8 weeks and moved on.

hi.i m 22 year old.i had sex with a sex worker on 31 st august 2006 and i did DNA PCR TEST ON 29 th sept 2006.that is i did test after immediate completion of 28 days.i tested neagtive in my reports.shud i go for another test or this is enough.also tel me after how many days HIV DNA PCR should be done???plz answer .i m worried..
