HIV Obsessed

I am a heterosexual female who had an unprotected sexual encounter in December of 2009. My partner was a 21 year old heterosexual, white male with no known history of drug abuse. I was only with him once, and have not been with anyone else since then. I became pregnant and was tested for all STDs, including HIV, 9 weeks and 2 days after the incident occured. I tested negative, and did not think about it again. My OB/GYN did not test me again, to my knowledge, unless I was tested in other blood work that was taken. When I took my 12 month old daughter for her 1 year blood work (standard for my insurance) they said that everything looked fine excepted she had elevated lymphocytes. Since then, I have been obsessing over HIV. Is it possible that my OB/GYN should have retested me and didn't? After looking things up, I see that my test was done inside the window period, and I am kind of freaking out. Should I retest? Should I have my daughter tested?

Same thing you are asking here or discuss it with your Pediatrician.

Now? A year after she is born? What should I ask? Should I not breastfeed over the weekend?

Follow up with your OBGYN.

I actually have a follow up question...

I am currently breastfeeding, and have since she was born. Should I stop now, or would it even make a difference? I am wondering if it is likely enough that I could still be pos. and also if she would have contracted it by now through birth or breasfeeding or if it is best to stop completely and suddenly because I don't have "conclusive" results. I am torn because on the experts forum my 9 weeks test would be conclusive, and it would be traumatic to suddenly wean her but if I am putting her at even more of a risk than I already have I should probably stop, right?

Thanks for your input. I only assumed that they may not ask because in the intial lab work they didn't specifically say what they were testing for, but when I asked they told me that I had been tested for HIV and it was neg.

My daughters doctor attributed her high lymphocyte count to a virus, she said probably a cold, and that is what got me worrying. I think I really just need to relax, but it is such a scary thought!

it is HIGHLY unlikely that a 9 week test would change.

if your ob/gyn tested you again...they would have gotten your permission to do so first.
