HIV Odds M-F

4 weeks ago in Fla, I met a girl in a nightclub.  We went to her house and had vaginal intercourse very briefly (maybe one minute).  I then realized how stupid it was and stopped.  The next day she calls me and tells me she is HIV positive.  Needless to say I was speechless, furious, etc.  Lets assume she told the truth and is in fact HIV+.

I am going to get tested soon, and want to know when.  4-6 wks?  Do I have to wait 3 months??

Is it true that a male's odds of getting HIV are 1/2000 with an HIV+ female?

thx,
madatmyself

hi

that was a cruel thing for her to do. after you get your results back negitive or not i would seek legal advce against her. as it is illegal; to knowingly transmit or try to transmit hiv. if she has tried this with you she will be trying it with more guys,

it has to stop.

The doctors on the expert forum will tell you that for vaginal sex, the odds of female to male infection are once for every 2,000 episodes of intercourse. So the odds are in your favor.  They'll also tell you that you should get tested 6 weeks after the exposure, because most people who are going to test positive will test positive at that time.

Good luck to you and remember the odds are in your favor...particularly if you are circumsized.  You should read the archives on the expert forum.
