HIV Risk

Dear Dr HHH, I appreciate the great work that you're doing here...

My History... I'm a heterosexual male that had contact with about 20 high class CSWs (expensives) in the last 8 years (about 2 or 3 per year) ever use a condom for vaginal and oral sex (except two occasions that they performed on me unprotected fellatio), no cunnilingus, always had been very carefully with the use of those condoms (running under water etc) never broken or slip off, I think my overall risk was very low near to zero, called to my HIV hotline that said me if I used the condoms every time and from the beginning to the end had nothing to worry about and had to move on with my life, I guess my worries are mainly for guilt...

I like to hear you professional opinion, frequently read your forum from time to time for safer sexual education...

Do you concur with my HIV hotline and my thoughts...?

Do you think are my fears irrational?

Don you think I have turn the page...?

Thanks in advance...

(By the way in my country the prevalence in my country of HIV in CSWs is about 0,5% to 1%, if it matters)

Since you have apparently read the forum quite a bit, undoubtedly you already know my rsponses.

If the overall rate of HIV in CSWs in your country is 0.5-1%, the odds are that the rate is lower than that in the higher class, expensive escorts.

I agree with the hotline and your self-assessment of the risks.  Are your fears "irrational"?  I wouldn't put it that strongly, but I believe you are at virtually zero risk of HIV.  But if you're so afraid despite the precautions you are taking, you probably should consider whether to change your sexual behaviors.

Of course there are cases of HIV infection after single vaginal sex exposures, but in the 20 years since HIV testing became routine in my STD clinic, I am unaware of any cases in that clinic.  Properly used condoms probably are 100% protective; statistics showing lower effectiveness probably result from breakage, improper use, or inaccurate information given by infected persons.

Good luck--  HHH, MD

Sorry for another off post question...

I read here before that the chance of being infected by HIV in a unprotected vaginal sex is 1 in 2000 this is only statistics or happen in the real life...? Manly infections through vaginal sex are after multiples exposures with an infected person?

Do you know any case of infection via heterosexual vaginal sex with a single exposure with infected person?

Using that statics using the condoms all the times leave the odds near to zero or zero at all?

Best Regards

you have obviously read the doctors post about 1/2000, single exposure, condom zero risk. I don't think his thoughts are going to change. you are internet searching and causing personal fear for hiv. If you are concerned this much go get tested because that is probably the only way you are going to get closure. Dr. HHH can not keep posting and get you any closer to zero than you already are.
