HIV Risk

Hello Doc,

Could you please give me your thoughts on my situation.

Last week ( 6 days ago) I had protected vaginal sex and unprotected oral sex with a Chinese sex worker. The oral was both ways ( me to her and her to me). I have read previous posts and from what I have read I have concluded that HIV transmission via oral sex is a low risk event for the transmission of HIV. Now the day before I had the sex with the sex worker I was starting to get sinus problems ( i have had sinus problems all my life) and was getting some post nasal drip flowing down the back up my throat. Sometimes with this happens my throat gets infected from the nasal drip and I require an antibiotic to help clear it up. Well now 6 days after the event I can say that my throat is very red and puffy - infected. Now I don't know if this is from the post nasal drip or if I caught Std in my throat. I really did do too much when i was giving oral- i don't really remember tasting any vaginal fluids but I was drunk so that doesn't say much. I woould guess you wouldn't need to much contact to get infected with an STD. Anyways my concern is should i get tested for HIV even though oral sex is considered a low risk? The fact that I may have gotten another STD in my throat makes me think that HIV would be a greater risk from someone who just had oral sex with a woman and didn't get another STD.

Also could you answer this STD question. I am in a very remote part of China. Only one doctor is this little village. I don't think he has much experience with STDs. I told him that I might of gotten and STD in my throat and he didn't take a culture or anything. He told my I had an infection and gave me Oaxcillan ( 4 time a day) - Does this sound liik an antibiotic used for STDs
