I read your your response to "scared need help" would that all be true for me too???
2. There would not be enough blood to cause an infection
3. There probably was no blood to begin with
4. Most people don't have HIV
5. HIV is not passed outside the body which is exactly what you are talking about.
ETC.
would there be anything i should do at this point?
Salvia has proteins and enzymes that when interact with HIV renders it inactive. That is why aquiring HIV via something in the mouth is almost impossible. While in therory it is possible in reality it doesn't happen.
The info you have read is conservative based and based on reports not actual documentation or studies.
TAKE IT TO THE OCD FORUM. YOU HAVE BEEN TOLD REPEATEDLY THAT THERE WAS NO RISK INVOLVED IN WHAT YOU ARE DESCRIBING.
KINDLY MOVE ON...THIS IS NOT A HIV CONCERN.
Another aids hotline chat (just received their response) thought this could be a risky situation depending on actively bleeding cuts and how much. I clearly didn't see all the cuts on his hands and this was so random and terrible luck...no way to know anything and my child could be at risk of a disease that could alter her life because she ate a hotdog improperly handled by some one at the fairgrounds...if this was your child what would you do?
Anything you can do...see a therapist to help you with anxiety.
Yes all of those reasons also pretain to you as well as the reasons I have already given you.
First...thanks for jumping in here I definitely appreciate as much info as possible.
Right...that is true...I didn't look at the sandwich when she got it which was actually a hot dog...just the person serving it with cuts on his hands and no gloves...my husband let her eat it and she can power down a hot dog because I wasn't gone but a few seconds and she had almost finished it when I returned. Yes OCD has led me to anxiety and not knowing exactly has led to me being here. I know it must be frustrating for you all to get these repeat posts but you all have knowledge that I just do not. From what I did see and what she said the possibility of the blood being on there is there and I was trying to find out through this forum if blood was on it when she ate it would that pose a risk is all. I just felt like I needed to be thorough and not miss an opportunity to protect her if I needed to at this point.
you are letting your anxiety and ocd control your thoughts.
first off...you do not even know that there was blood on her sandwich
secondly...it would be almost next to impossible for someone to make a sandwich, hand it to her and her eat it within seconds.
your daughter had NO risk and does not need testing.
I should say worried again because I read the post "biting in kissing and skin tear and oral sex" and the response was "small risk"
I was doing great last night after these great responses from Vance. I did visit this morning to read some of these posts. I am now worried again because my daughter had a cut in her mouth from her retainer and ate food with blood on it within seconds of it being handed to her. I am crying as I type this because she is only 8 years old!!! Can she be exposed in this way? Is it dependent on the amount of blood on the sandwich?
No I did not read it on this forum but I have read several places that oral transmission is possible and has occured...I am just a worried parent. I do apprecite all of your responses. Sorry if my OCD kicks in and I need the repetition but just wanted to make sure you had all of my info just in case it would change your response. Thank you so much!
3rd time I will say this...it is not a risk. HIV infection does not take place like that. I don't know where you read that HIV is aquired from cuts in the mouth from bodly fluids because it was not on this forum nor was it in the Expert forum.
He probably wasn't bleeding all over the food. I definitely thank you for your time...so grateful for people who know more than me. So if what she saw was blood and she ate it and had a cut in her mouth...is there a risk? should I be worried? have her tested? Just really worried if she could have been exposed in this way still
Well I highly doubt that this guy was bleeding all over the food. Anyway as I said it is not a risk.
My daughter saw something on there, but she's 8 and ate it anyway. I went back to the guy preparing the food and he most definitely had a cut on his hand and did not wear gloves. I am wondering if there was bllod on it and she had a cut in her mouth could she be at risk this way??? I am seriously worried.
How do you know that there was blood on the food?
It is not a risk for HIV.
