HIV Testing

I have posted here once before but still feeling uneasy due to symptoms, which they say to ignore. My doctors keep telling me testing won't mean anything until 3 months after exposure, which won't be until June 14th, the last month has already been hell enough. So my question is - how accurate is testing in Australia? I was tested at the 2 week and 4 week mark and was negative both times. I was tested again a little over the 6 week mark yesterday and don't get results until Friday. The reason I am so nervous is I have a partner who showed similiar symptoms to me - sore muscles/joints, mouth ulcers, feeling of malaise, upset tummy etc. He told me he was tested around the 3 week/4 week mark (wasn't sure of his exposure but we always wore condoms) and I haven't heard of his results.

I just read your first post and agree with maash.

You NEVER had a risk for HIV and DO NOT need to test. You had PROTECTED sex.

You DO have a risk for STD's from the oral sex and should be tested for those.

Most, if not all of your symptoms, including the short period, are due to anxiety. Stop Goggling the HIV symptom sites!!!!

Tell your doctor the truth so he/she will know what to test for. Some STD's can only be found through blood labs.

I'm unsure which test they used. I did some reading that most labs in Australia used both antigen + antibodies. But most of the doctors I ask just say that the tests won't mean anything until 3 months because it checks for antibodies. Most doctors I've been to say my symptoms are due to anxiety/stress but since my partner showed the same symptoms I'm just a little concerned.

Not sure what test they used as well. The doctors told me it's a test to check antibodies but I did some reason that most labs in Australia use both the antigen + antibody test which put my mind at ease since they say 96%+ of people show positive by the 4 week mark.
