HIV Viral Load testing in side window preoid

Can any of the pros on this fourm tell me if a RNA PCR real time viral load test would be accurate at 9-1/2 weeks post exposure to HIV? I had a viral load test done last week that was <20 copies/ml, HIV-1 RNA not detected.

I will test using an HIV anti-body post 90 days, but just want assurrence that if I would of been infected with HIV the HIV RNA PCR test would of should a VL count. I did have few ARS symptoms post exposure due to a condom break during sexual intercourse.

It would be very high. That's when a person is most infectious, just after they contract the virus. The HIV RNA by PCR is a good test at this time frame, but needs to be followed up with an antibody test at 3 Months. That is what your doing anyway. All the best.

To Teak & RainLover71

Thanks for the support and time for all what both of you do for this site. I just got my 3rd generation HIV 1/2 ELISA blood test results post 122 days (non-reactive/neg).

Both of you were correct and I was wrong.

To all worried wells, do not go by symptoms as I had just about every symptom in the book. Only a test will tell your status.

You are not getting symptoms due to HIV because you don't have HIV.

Does my rash look like a nornal HIV rash that someone would get who has been HIV+?

Or can I be a late sero-converter that my test results are not showing any HIV infection and I am getting symptoms post 11 weeks?

your test result is NOT GOING TO CHANGE in 3 days...84 days is considered conclusive

No, rashes with HIV are normal rashes or ones that are caused by ARVs.

But can HIV cause a non-ARS rash since I am passed the window for ARS and currently at 82 days post exposure? Also, do you think my resutls from yesterday are conclusive? You can see my rash photos in below links. This rash has me very concerned.

Rashes due to ARS don't come on that late and don't look like pimples.

Here is what it says on the limitations of a DUO tests.
All positive test have to be confirmed
A negative test result at any point in the investigation of individual subjects does not preclude the possibility of exposure to or infection with HIV-1 and/or HIV-2.

Could you please explain to everyone why a DUO/COMBO after 4 weeks would not be reliable. There seems to be some confusion about this.Thankyou.

The US has no home test. The have an approved collection kit. Home Access. You can test anonymously at a clinic but that is as far as it goes.

That is only if you test negative. The state notifies the Health Departmentin the county inwhich you reside and they send a representive to advise you of the programs that are available to you and your state laws on disclosure.

What do you mean that anonymity goes out the window. The state HIV clinic post that test are anonymously done and you do not have to give your name or address, etc...

Anonymity goes out the window if you test positive in the US.

Don't put the cart before the horse and you know that symptoms don't diagnose Hiv a test at the right time does.I'm sure your test will be negative. Please lets us know the good news when you get your results.

If the OraQuick rapid fluid test is good at 12 weeks post expose then I might go that route as the state HIV clinic gives free anonymously rapid oral fluid test. I have filling I will test positive due to the symptoms I had and currently having. The slight back rash and night sweats got me concerned. I do not want my medical insurance to find out if I turn out positive as I can not test anonymously with my doctor.

The only problem they have had was several years ago they had a batch of test they gave a lot of false positive and the false negatives were cause by taking the test to early.
