HIV and Mono

I am an 18 year-old male from Canada.  In June I had unprotected vaginal intercourse with a girl that i was dating.  She had 4 partners before me.  A few weeks later I got really bad headaches, swollen lymph nodes in my neck, a sore throat with pus in it, a stiff neck, and very bad fatigue.  I went to my doctor and he did a mononucleosis test on me.  It came back positive, and my liver and spleen were also swollen.  I know that my symptoms also could have been HIV related.  I just find this a strange coincidence that i get mono right at the same time as this unprotected encounter.  My doctor did several blood tests, but could he have been mistaken, about my mono diagnosis?

Mono and ARS have nothing in common. If the test came back saying you had mono then you had mono and not ARS. Best to get checked out still though.

I caught pneumonia at the same time I thought i was exposed. It was really bad. i am still HIV NEGATIVE.
I you are concerned about HIV then make sure you ask your doctor specifically for this test. If you don't they may not becasue of some ethical guidelines.
It has been a year now and you are still worried please go get tested and stop worrying about it.
You did put yourself at risk. next time I would get my partners tested before we take it to the next level.
