So a few days ago I had some blood drawn. I waited in the office for about 5 min before the nurse came in to draw blood. The nurse opened a drawer, pull out some type of tube, an orange tube/container that probably contained the needle and set the stuff up and drew blood. Now I'm not saying that this needle was used, but my concern is that the needle came from a drawer that anyone could have accessed. So what if someone waiting before me got bored and pulled out a needle and poked themselves then the needle was used on me to draw blood. Couldn't this be a way for HIV
Hey thanks for the advice. Just out of curiosity and so I can be better informed, if fluids are injected into a vein with a needle that contains blood then diseases such as HIV
can be transmitted. Is the same true for the opposite? For instance, if a needle is injected into a vein to withdraw blood from someone and that needle has been used or if there is blood on the needle tip. Can blood borne disease spread this way?
Thanks in advance for a reply. I don't mean to insult or offend anyone here, I'm just trying to be better informed so I don't have irrational thoughts and so I can help others with their own irrational thinking.
