HIV anxiety!!!

Hi Guys,

I really need your help in being able to move forward with my life..

As of Jan 2015 I have been in two serious relationships and have had unprotected vaginal sex.

I became severely unwell during my second relationship around May this year and became increasingly worried and obsessed that I had caught Hiv from the partner before- I contacted him and asked him to take a full STI test including HIV, thankfully he did and it came back negative. I took a 4th gen test after three months of the first partner and it came back negative too.  (Worry over) but I was wrong!!

I was still very sick with the second partner and was diagnosed with herpes type 1 in the genital area.  He explained to me only after I found out that herpes 1 runs in his family and he believed he may have it orally. My doctor ruled me out as a very unlucky person to get it in the genital area. I had a total melt down and my doctor put me on lexapro a anxiety/ depression tablet. I took numerous 4th gen  hiv tests with the 2nd partner as I developed really bad vagina thrush whilst with him too. My doctor still to this day thinks I broke my immune system with stress and the herpes virus which has resulted in me not being able to get rid of the thrush.

Eventually I had to end that relationship because of the stress I was under and I took. A 4th gen test 85 days after the last time we had unprotected sex and it came back negative.

How ever I still have vaginal thrush with no cute from fluconqze and pessarys!

My current partner and I where very honest with each other and told each other that we both have herpes type 1- him orally and me genital. Both happy together and my doctor has given me the all clear to have unprotected sex with him- as I am on the pill. My current partner is happy with my results and is not worried so we did have unprotected sex together! After a week he developed a really bad flu and a herpes outbreak which he said he hadn't had for years!!!! He still has a dry cough and I am freaked out by it.  I am very stressed and worried :( I have taken four 4th gen hiv tests in 2015 and all come back negative- can I move on or should I ask for a HIV PCR??

Thanks guys- hope to hear from you!!

Hey guys-

I know in suffering with anixety since all this has started.. And I've been on and off lexapro.
I had my 6 month hiv ag/ab test and it came back negative. I was ecstatic with the result- but it's crept back up on me.

I've been suffering with a chronic yeast infection for nearly 10 months... Absoutley nothing makes it go away...
My doctor keeps telling me I can be sure it's not hiv that's causing it. I have a few other issues like dents in my finger nails and my skin is dry spotty on my face and feels sore to touch sometimes.

My question is this.... Is it possible that that my test could be wrong??? My boyfriend had another out break of herpes again which worries me... Makes me think it's me causing him to have it.

Iplease don't be mad with me for posting this...

Thanks user78 and chima7 - I seen my doc today and she does suspect a small immune deficiency issue. However she won't refer me on to an immune specialist as she doesn't believe it's anything too serious and is worried it will affect my anixety more. I begged for another HIV test but she said no because I've had four 4gens in the last year and believe mys 85day is conclusive.

Because of her suspicions I asked her if my immune issue would affect my testing and viral load- this doctor is specialises in sexual health and didn't seem to know what I was talking about.

This has literally ruined the last year of my life and I need to move on desperately!!!

Your issue is stress

Your results are conclusive you do NOT have HIV

Herpes type 1 is very common 90% of people has it and they don't even know.

Please don't worry and continue with your life

Chronic vaginal yeast infections have nothing to do with HIV. You should post in the Women's Health forum for assistance with that problem.

Can anyone shed some light on chronic yeast infection- 6months plus, but tested negative 12 weeks post risky exposure? Should I retest as I could potentially have an auto immune disease hence the yeast infection-medications are not working..

If I need to retest is six months conclusive with auto immune disease?

Also the fact my boyfriend had the worst flu of his life 2 weeks after us having unprotected sex- which then caused him to have coldsores outbreak...

I keep telling myself it's all coincidence, my doc told me I had suppressed my immune system through severe aniexty- along with my thrush I have very visible dents in thumbnails all signs of a immune diffidency .

How suppressed does the immune system have to be  to get a false negative.?

Okay I appreciate your time- and I'll move on from it. I did for a while and it just pops up now again when I have to go get medicne from the pharmacist as they always say to me- have you been tested, I know what there thinking because your not supposed to have it for that long.

Thank you again sleepnessnights34

What's going on down there has nothing to do with HIV, and testing again won't make it go away. Your negative result at 12 weeks is more than conclusive.

Thanks for replying Sleepnessnights34

I understand that a 12 week negative test is normally classed as conclusive but if I've been suffering with vaginal thrush for the last six months( no medications are getting rid of it) then is there a chance my 12 weeks could be wrong?

Along with vaginal thrush- my thumb nails have lots iof dents in them too- usually this is a sign of a low immune system.  Which could quite possibly affect my 12 week result?

The anxiety is coming from not being able to cure my vaginal thrush which has been diagnosed 3x this year.  I still can't help but relate it to Possible false negative test.

If you got a Negative at 12 weeks after your last risky encounter, then you're safe. Yes, move on. your symptoms have nothing to do with HIV.

Sorry I wrote that in sheer panic- as you can tell I am extremely anxious.

The two precious boyfriends tested negative, 3 months from their previous exposures and my current tested negative too.

I have tested negative 6months from first boyfriend and 85 days(12 weeks) from 2nd boyfriend!!

I cannot move on due to my symtoms and it's bottom so bad I'm thinking  about quitting work!! :(

I would also like to add that the 2nd partner tested negative too after 3 months from his previous exposure when we where together.

Which makes me think I might have caught it years ago and might be one of those people that doesn't show antibodies :/
