HIV exposure - Please help.

Hi everyone. I am a male. Here is my situation. On Nov 23rd and again on Dec 2nd I had unprotected intercourse with a women of unknown status. Both times we had vaginal and anal intercourse.

On December 10th (17 days after the first act) I came down with what the doctor guessed was either tonsillitis or the flu.

I had a very sore throat, a fever of 101.5 that lasted 2 days, and possible (seems to be but not visible in neck) swollen glands in my neck and under my right armpit only ( a small pea bump).

So the fever left after two 2 days only with meds, the sore throat lasted a week to 10 days.

The soreness in my neck is still there 4 WEEKS LATER. NO Fever since Dec 13th. But, I have continued to have aches and pains in my legs and both sides of my groin area.

Dull pain in my stomach and a slight nausia after eating anything.

The most painful thing is a very bad pain in the back of my neck and sever pain in my lower back on both sides.

Can anyone tell me what likely hood I have of it being ARS/HIV?

Based on the time frame and the other information provided?

What could be an alternative cause for these symptoms if any?

Thanks.

A general rule is that symptoms such as you describe are never used to diagnose HIV.  As you had unprotected sex which is a risk factor for transmission, you should test now. We wish you the best.

Your highest likelihood is flu so get a generation 4 HIV test right now, and stop guessing. Your symptoms are of no interest to an HIV doctor.

Hi thanks for the reply. I will test for sure. Just one last question. Are you saying that my symptoms dont sound like HIV or are you saying symptoms dont matter?

Either way, does having all the lingering things i mention 5 weeks after exposure sound like something a newly infected person may go through?

Thanks again.
I said your highest likelihood is flu - think about that and ask yourself why your symptoms can prove anything?
only because I didnt think the lasting soreness in my throat and groin area along with severe lower back and neck pain weeks after the fever has long passed is not proof but cant still be the flu for 5 weeks.
You have zero medical training and Google is not a substitute for a GP.
I agree with you on all points. Thats why i was asking YOU if flu symptoms lasting over 5 weeks seemed a little alarming along with my situation.
Please relax until your gen 4 test results, which you can have done now. That is all I can say. Maybe even do an oraquick to help relax you while waiting.
thank you
