HIV exposure/PEP

Hi a week ago I had a large amount of liquor and engaged in anal sex with a transgender sex worker. She did not seem clean and possible drug user. She gave me oral with a condom on and then I performed anal sex with the condom. About 5-10 minutes I pulled out and ejaculated, then noticed a good size hole towards top of condom. About a quarter inch in width and maybe inch from the tip. I began to panic and asked if she was clean, of course she would say yes, but she didn't seem that way. I ended up taking PEP about 58 hours after the incident and I'm on day 5. The side effects aren't too bad, mainly diarrhea. I've been very stressed and could use some insight on the incident.

I'm pretty sure I'm feeling them in neck and groin. I keep prodding, which probably not good thing to do

Today actually makes it exactly 3 weeks since I've been PEP. So far I've been persistent on taking the meds. She didn't seem too worried if we used a condom or not. I'm the one who was making sure I had on protection.

Swollem Lymph nodes if indeed caused by ARS are body wide. One single lymph node is not a sign of anything related to HIV.

Just seeing if you saw my last question about the lymphnodes?

I hope you're right as it has me very stressed. The doctor did check my blood work after two weeks and said my liver is good, so that's nice to know. I did wake up with a lymph node on my collarbone, but went away after couple hours. Just out of curiosity, how long do lymph nodes last and are they tender during ARS?

You really had no risk and no reason to test. However in factual terms (not pertaining to  you) a person who takes a full course of PEP will not give an accurate result taking an HIV test days after as it delays antibody production. However You had no risk and wasted money on PEP drugs unnecessarily and they are probably doing more harm than good for you as they can make a person very ill.

If I test negative a few days after PEP is that a good indicator?

Wait a minute. I didn't realize you started PEP. That will affect the accuracy of your results. How long have you been on it?

Most CSW workers insist on condoms for a reason. To protect themselves. If you are that concerned take an HIV DUO test at 4 weeks or any time after that for a conclusive result. And expect it to be a negative.

There was a good size hole in the condom and what doesn't say my uretha was exposed? The prostitute is transgender and looks like she has sex all the time. That puts me at risk and don't want to take a chance, so I chose PEP.
I know being a top, being circumsized and starting with a condom help with that risk, but still a risk!

Reread the answers. You didn't need PEP.

Have you taken PEP before? This is my first time and the side effects for me have been mostly diarrhea and mild to medium headaches.tomorrow will make my 3 week mark, ready to get off this stuff. I started a runny nose last week and still have it. I think stress has feeling more I'll than anything.

Very effective ((around 85%)), but not in your case, because you were never exposed to the virus. As Life360 mentioned, the tip was covered, and that's all that matters.

How effective is PEP if taken around 58 hours since exposure?

Hi, since your penis tip was covered no bactia or virus could get inside your penis so i would say you had no risk since the rip was in the top.

Thanks Life360, so basically if the urethra is covered I should be OK? The hole was about an inch from the reservoir tip of the condom
