HIV from Bleeding Cut and Fingering?

by yikes21, Mar 16, 2009 01:07PM
Hi everyone,

I'm trying to determine my risk of getting HIV after a recent vacation.

I was in a strip club in Negril, Jamaica and, stupidly, was blacked out drunk. I otherwise would have no worries about HIV infection except that, at one point during the night, I picked a piece of glass off of my shoe and it cut me fairly deeply. I was bleeding in the club and had to go get a napkin to stop it up.

I had the same girl following me all night. I definitely did not have intercourse or oral sex with her but, at most, I MAY have fingered her (I say MAY because I was blacked out drunk and do not remember... hence this post). And, as you know, Jamaica has fairly rampant HIV/AIDS... I could only imagine the statistic for strip club workers.

Would this have possibly exposed me to HIV?

The next day, I knocked the cut and it began to bleed again so I would imagine that, if I did finger her that night, it would have split open again. Also, 2 days later, a friend looked at the cut and said it probably could have used a stitch but I don't (and didn't) think so.

Teak,

Thank you for the response but would you care to explain more for me?

I am getting caught up on the possibility of open bleeding cut + possibly infected vaginal secretions.

You didn't stick a open bleeding wound into any woman nor would a woman let you stick a bleeding finger into her.

Would a *deep* cut that wasn't bleeding at the time represent an risk of infection? I know blood clotting is said to defend against infection. So, is active bleeding the criterion for being open to infection?

And you say that a woman wouldn't let a man stick a bleeding finger into her but keep in mind this is a Jamaican strip club where the women are in poverty and uneducated and there is a brothel next door that they work at. For a few extra $$, I think they would let about anything go (not that they would know to do otherwise or risk getting an STD). Just saying...

Did you finger a woman with a deep wound that had just clotted?  I think that might be painful!

Yeah, it probably was.

Oh well... I'm just going to hope that the stars didn't align and I didn't finger a woman with HIV with an open cut in my blacked out state.

You'd be the first human in the history of HIV (i.e. it ain't gonna happen!).

You'ld be better off not having sex at all if you drink till you black out.
