HIV from blood droplet in eye

I was riding my bike and some guy on the bike in front of me spit out and the saliva came back to my face and a drop went inside my left eye for sure
It was dark so I couldn't tell whether it was purely saliva or blood
Can I get hiv assuming this guy was positive and was profusely bleeding from his mouth?

Hi there -

You have been advised that this is not a risk, and how HIV is transmitted.

We understand that anxiety is a very real issue, so we urge you, with compassion and kindness, to speak with a doctor about anxiety. Counseling and perhaps medication (if appropriate for you) can be really helpful.

We are closing this thread.

Thank you CurfewX
Can you please explain why this was not a risk even if we assume it was pure blood that went inside my eye
Do I need PEP?

This is not a rational question nor is it based in anything that would happen in reality. People do not go around bleeding profusely from the mouth while riding their bikes.

HIV is a fragile virus that can only infect inside the body, as through unprotected anal or vaginal sex and sharing drug needles with infected users. You had no risk and there is absolutely nothing for you to concern yourself as related to HIV. The facts of science state that what you described is not a risk. I have stated the only two ways where you could be at risk at the start of this paragraph. My suggestion is that you stop obsessing over this non risk and move on with your life.
If you needed PEP, imagine how many doses of PEP would be administered during every football game where the players get cut and smash into the wounds. Those guys would be PEPped all season!

It is time for you to follow Chima's advice at the end.

Assuming this guy was actively bleeding from his mouth?
Risks for HIV are:
1) having unprotected, penetrative vaginal or anal sex, or
2) sharing IV drug needles with other IV drug users.

Nothing else you can think of is a risk - not food, not drinks, not small amounts of blood, not saliva, even with blood.  JUST the above two ways.  You had NO risk for HIV.
