HIV in nose?

Hello,
I am a teacher in a low income/ high poverty area. On Friday, I was working one on one with a special needs student. I wiped my nose wth my hand and I felt something wet go into my nose. I am freaking out. I didn't see any blood (at least I don't remember seeing any) but is it possible for HIV to be transmitted in this way?! I know the kid was sick that day so it could have been a number of things, and I recall using hand sanitizer a few moments before that may not have dried completely? But I did not smell the alcohol in my nose.

Is testing necessary?!

Totally agree with Massh.

So many myth's and misinformation out there about HIV infection.
HIV is caught by:
Unprotected anal and varginal sex.
Drug users sharing needle's.
Mother to child.

Take care.

Before you worrying more just think always , if this is the way for HIV transmission , world will live with HIV.  Anxiety is most dangerous . Stop GOOGLING and move on with your life. You dont have any RISK!

Thank you :)! I guess I  was worried because something wet went INTO my nose from my hand (as if I wiped my nose with my hand and whatever was on my hand transferred inside of my nose.)

HIV is not an airborne disease.

You can't get HIV from a runny nose or a nose bleed.

Simply impossible.

No it does not change the risk.

Thank you! :) all of my friends were surprised when I pursued special education, because of my severe OCD.

I competely understand that a runny nose won't cause HIV but something went into my nose that was wet from my hand. Does that change the risk?

Hi, none of the websites including the non reliable ones have listed runny nose as mode of transmission for HIV. Working for special children itself is a blessing and you should keep all such anxieties away when you work for them. Do your job with clear mind and without any worries for HIV. HIV is majorly transmitted via unprotected vaginal or anal intercourse.

Thank you for your swift reply! Like I said, I have been stressing over this incident but your reassurance helped!

Why is the nose always listed as a mode of transmission but in this case, if is not a risk?
