I'm new to this forum,,I had read many things on this... but still decided to post something for a reply...
let's say, a person has a very high risk (anal sex-receptive), with an unknown status partner, now... a person has another risk with another man, this time is HIV positive, same risk.. so 2 risks in 1 day...3 weeks after the exposures, the man (receptive end) experienced severe flu-like symptoms, that is, headache, fatigue-join-muscles-pain, sneezing, itchy skin (hives), nausea and vomitting. the symptoms happened to extend severely for about 4 months...(yes-4months)...
a person then went to a clinic, tested 2 times. one at 6 months, the other considered to be at 8 months. both were rapid tests... the first one was oral fluid, the second was fingerprick (blood).. the tests came back negative...
my question is: can a person consider himself CONCLUSIVELY NEGATIVE- like he never has the risk-, or does he need a traditional blood test for a conclusive result?
is there an odd that the tests can give a FALSE NEGATIVE tests???
What is the accuracy of rapid tests???
thanks so much.....
