HIV-like-ilness.. what is it?

Hello, i am new to this whole medhelp thing but i thought i would give it a shot. I had an exposure about 2 years ago where i had sexual intercourse with a intravenous drug user.. I had some scary symptoms afterwards although i did indeed ware a condom. My symptoms go like this, Penile ulcer kinda below where the condom would not have covered 3 days after, then i had abit of painful urination that i felt deep inside me.. as well as what i believe is inguinal lymphdopathy ( swollen lymph nodes in the groin area, kinda all in a chain ) ..  Then i kinda started getting fatigued the next week and felt woozy.. and then at about 20 days after this i had a kinda unsettling feeling in my groin area and i came down with a awful fever and some vicious chills and night sweats. And this blanket of a foggy feeling came over me, i think its called malaise. and it kinda never really went away, its now been about 2 years since this.. but anyhow im on here because ive had some worries of various things this could of been.. one being HIV.. I have a tough time believing HIV tests because of the level of discrepency known about the window period..

Hi HIV test 4th gen are conclusive at 4weeks (28 days), 3rd gen 6 weeks beyond. So if you test negative after 2 years you are ok. There is no need For further testing not unless for peace of mind. If you want you can do a full std panel test and all the results you will get are conclusive. Anyway if you are not feeling well have a doctor check you. Not every symptom a person feels is std related. Often times it is guilt.

Not sure when you tested for hiv but the window period is 3 months.
Some Drs. still go by 6 months and that may be for the patient who needs more convincing themselves that they are negative.

Never ignore your symptoms especially when they last a long time.
You said you used a condom and if it did not brake ( you would know ) it protected you from a potential hiv risk.

See a Dr and see what direction he/she wants to go.
I would awesome a full std check would be performed.

Well, its obvious i contracted some sort of infection that somewhat is still bothering my system..  So its hard to move on from it. Would i be crazy to ask my doctor to do a lymph node biospy of the larger one in my groin? and could hiv be tested for in the lymph node, just as a re-assurance kinda thing.

3 months after exposure a test is conclusive. you did it after 2 YEARS.......so it is 800% conclusive! you dont need to worry about HIV anymore! you may have some other condition, but spea to your doctor about it. once again, you do not have HIV.
