HIV misconception from Hollywood movie?

I posted a question on this forum before regarding the risks of contracting HIV via receiving oral sex. I was told that
oral sex did not expose me to HIV. However, I remember the movie Philadelphia starring Tom Hanks and Denzel Washington. The character portrayed by Tom Hanks contracts HIV when he visits a theatre and receives oral sex from a fellow homo-sexual. The movie was shot in 1993, and I am aware that we know a lot more now than we did back then about this subject. My question: is HIV transmittable from oral sex as suggested in this movie, or has our knowledge of the disease increased since then to dismiss oral sex as a non exposing act of HIV?
