HIV or Mono

I tested positive for mono, and had all the mono symptoms, but doing some online searches I discovered that acute hiv could be mistaken for mono. I did have unprotected sex, we discussed me having mono and he admitted that he had it about 6 years ago. I was wondering if by taking the mono test and it coming up positive that thats what i had and not hiv.

You Mono test confirm that your symptoms are from Mono, but doesnt confirm your hiv status, so the only way to know is to get tested, unprotected sex does place you at some risk of hiv and other STD so test at 6 weeks for 95% accuarate result and then at 3 motnhs for a conclusive result.

Good luck

It could be mistaken by symptoms...Not by tests... Test regularly if you're having unprotected sex.
