HIV outside host

Is it correct that HIV is fragile and cannot infect once outside the host? That the outer surface becomes damaged immediately, rendering it unable to infect? Will that mean that for semen it can only infect if deposited directly inside the anus? Thanks.

Unprotected intercourse with or without ejaculation  is good enough to put you at risk of contracting hiv because the transfer happens in the body where there's no exposure to air and a few other ideal conditions. But to answer your question technically. Yes.
