HIV risk and 'grinding'

by DR79, Oct 09, 2006 12:00AM
Hi Dr...
The other day I engaged in "grinding" with a woman. We were both naked, and I was on top of her, rubbing my unprotected penis on her vagina, and she later got on top of me and grinded her vagina onto my penis. My penis was never inserted into her, and I did not see any noticible cuts or sores on my penis. I am not sure if any of her vaginal secretions entered my urethera. I do not believe they did, but I can't be 100% sure either. Can you discuss the HIV risks associated with this type of act? Thanks.

There's nothing to discuss.  There are no known HIV risks associated with such an exposure.  To my knowledge never a reported case or even suspicion of such transmisison.  Maybe a small risk of herpes or HPV, though.

Dr...for the sake of argument, let's assume vaginal secretions did enter my urethra...that would obviously increase the risk of transmission?

You can ask "what if" and "yes but" questions forever, but the fact remains no case of HIV has ever been transmitted that way.  Follow Alex73's advice.  I won't have any further comments.

There are treatments that reduce the chances of transmission HIV from mother to baby.
