HIV risk associated to chronical Urinary tract infections

Dear Doctors Handsfield and Edward:

I am a heterosexual man and I am 32 y.o. and I have some questions cause I am suffering from chronic urinary infections and two days ago I had sex with a sex worker. It was only protected oral sex and one vaginal sex that lasted  3 or 4 minutes. The condom didnt break but after retiring the condom and cleaning my penis, I noticed that I have had a small open hurt near the head of my penis, I guess this small hurt was there before the intercourse. Those 2 factors(the chronic UTI´s and the small hurt) could increase the risk of get and HIV infection ? Do you recommend a HIV/STD test after the window period of 3 months? Is there any correlation between non gonoccocal UTI and HIV risk?
Thanks for your time

It is not totally clear that both your oral and, more importantly, your vaginal sex were condom protected.  If they were, then there is no risk of HIV at all from this exposure.  Even with the presence of a cut or sore on your penis, the condom would protect you.

Your chronic urinary tract infection is an internal problem and does not increase you risk for HIV either.  In women, the mucosal inflammation due to other infections, including STDs increases risk of HIV but this is not clearly the case in men.

You do not need to worry and do not need testing.  EWH

Thank you for the clarification.  No testing is needed for the exposures you describe.  eWH
