HIV risk possible?

HIV risk possible?

Hi,

6 days ago I had protected vaginal sex with a sexworker. After the intercourse, I forgot to remove the condom and wore my underpants. After 2 minutes, I realized the situation and removed the condom but wore the same underpants. Hence, the vaginal fluids on the outside of the used condom passed to the clothing and the same clothing touched my urethra. If the sex worker is HIV positive, do you think that there is any chance that the HIV was transmitted to me?

On aids.org, I saw the statement `There are no documented cases of HIV transmission through wet clothing`. Would this case still apply to me or is my case riskier? Do you think that I should get tested? If yes, would 20 days be enough to get a good result?

Please let me know and thanks for the help!

Welcome to the Forum. The exposure you describe is zero risk.  Condom protected sex is safe sex and that some of your partner's genital secretion might have gotten on your clothing does not change that.  HIV is not spread from inanimate objects to humans, even if the clothing gets soaked with genital secretions, as you point out, no one has EVER gotten HIV through clothing.  You have no risk from this exposure and do not need testing from a medical perspective for this exposure.  If you choose to get tested for your own peace of mind, please wait until at least 6 weeks after your exposure to get tested so that the negative test result that I am confident you will get will not be marred by any theoretical concerns that you were tested too soon.  Hope this helps. Take Care.  EWH
