HIV test question

HIV test question

I want to know how reliable is the PCR test, in percentage. One doctor told me that a negative result with this test after 2 weeks is very reliable. And also i had some symptoms before making the blood test so I think if i had hiv it should has appeared in the test since i should have a lot of hiv virus for the symptoms to appear. Is that true?

Hi heinzbremen,

A negative pcr test is an extremely powerful evidence that you do not have hiv.

However, if you had a real risk, you would still need a standard test at 3 months for it to be conclusive. When going for your 3 months test, you should expect a negative result as well.

Wish you all the best.

May God bless

I'd appreciate an answer to this question too.  Also, the chances of a false positive PCR DNA at two weeks.  Thanks!

I am not sure of the percentages of the dna pcr test. (I took one from labcorp.) at 2 weeks and it came back negtive. but note: IT IS NOT FDA APPROVED. and there is a chance that it might not find the hiv virus if you are infected.
