a test...3 months from your LAST EXPOSURE...is needed for a reliable and conclusive test result.
I did have several unprotected sex sessions with my current partner that would have fallen within my test result date (those session would have been from the first week of Nov to end of Dec 08). We had several unportected sessions during that time, which if I was infected by her (IF she was infected), it would have shown on the recent test result that I had. My question is IF she was HIV positive and I had unprotected sex during that time, would it have shown positive on my test on 3-17-09?
Let's say that I had several unprotected vaginal sex sessions with an HIV+ woman for a month and a half to two month period (at least 3 sessions per week); what is the likeliness of a HIV- male showing a positive test 3 months later? The previous statement is my sceanario; however, I am not certain she is positive (she is getting tested next week), and she most likely isn't positive. I just tested negative this past week.
My GF is getting tested (she has said that she has been tested in the past), I just wanted to see what you all thought.
I get it. You tested negative conclusively for anything 3 months and beyond that test date. Your only exposure now would be unprotected sex with your current partner. If she tests negative and you are negative, then you don't have to worry about latex barriers or not because you are both negative and mutually monogamous. That is why I am saying that you should ask her to test as well.
But no matter how much blood of hers you got around your urethra, your test result still doesn't say anything about her status. That is why you both should test if you are going to continue to engage in a monogamous sexual relationship without latex barriers.
I did get tested on 3-17-09 (negative); however, we have several unprotected sex sessions from Jan to 3-17-09 (which is outside the test window). Does that make sense?
Get tested yourself...Her test isn't going to tell you anything about your status.
She will get test soon; however, I was just looking for some insight before hand.
I have read on this forum (from the doctors) that even if a woman is HIV+ the chance of trasferring it to an HIV- male is 1 in 1000 unprotected encounters. I was just curious since my test would probably cover me from November 08 up until Jan 09 (that would 8 weeks of window); however, the test probably wouldn't cover the unprotected sex that has occured from Jan up until the test on 3-17-09). IF she was infected maybe one of the unprotected sessions within the Jan-March would have infected me. BTW, at least two sessions in that second time frame would have been around her period, resulting in blood being greatly exposed to my penis (urethra).
Why don't you just ask her to test too?
