HIV test today - so scared!!! other symptoms too :-/

So Scared About HIV . . :-/ ?!?!?!!!!!
by veryscaredandworried26, 15 hours ago
Hi,

Thanks for reading this. I am a caucasian female aged 26 from the UK and I am very very scared and worried about potential exposure to HIV. :-/

One night 4 weeks ago i made the mistake of being very drunk and remember hardly anything. (something never to happen again!!!). I was at a flat with several people and was apparently kissing a (nigerian) man. This man approached me in the street recently because he recognised me and told me what apparently happened. It makes me feel physically sick to think about it because i would never go near that person if i wasnt out of my face so im also feeling pretty violated :(

Anyway, i asked him what happened and he told me i gave him oral sex (made me want to throw up when he told me that) and he touched me and stuff but we didnt have sex. . . . because i dont remember i am SO scared incase he is lying . . .i dont remember any of the things he told me. I dont remember if it felt like i had sex the next day or not .. . surely id know??  I have 2 sores on either side of my mouth (not raised or bumpy, but they feel like they burn when i put my tongue on them and the skin feels tight and uncomfortable. . ium not sure if it is just because i have been rubbing my mouth with tissue or not and that why it is sore or if it is a symptons of hiv or herpes?????

Im scared because of the way this man seems, he freaks me out and it makes me wanna be sick when i see or imagine him . . . someone i would never even go near when sober ....

i feel generally unwell and tired and have a cold with sore throat, headache, runny nose etc etc.

One of the biggest mistakes ive ever made and if i have been giving this disease by someone like that i dont knnow what i will do . . . . . . .?

Am i worrying unecessarily or not?

well if you only gave him oral and he touched or fingered you, then you should not be worried for hiv transmission..
transmission requires unprotected vaginal sex.. .

Hi, thanks for replying :)

But thats what im worried about . . .because i dont remember if we did have sex and if he is lying saying we didnt.

I have read that transmission can also happen through oral sex :-/ .

If oral and kissing were your only contact  with him then you were not at risk for hiv. .

First thing first , I am sorry you feel violated. Drinking put you in this predicament.  About the sores, do you have HSV1(oral herpes)?. Although you do not like this man, I would speak to him again for reassurance. Most people don't have hiv which is in your favor. Anxiety can bring in all the symptoms you have. I would get tested for peace of mind. Do you feel he lied to you?  Don't get yourself so worked up. Most likely you didn't catch anything from this exposure even if he was infected.   .

transmission CANT happen through oral sex..so you dont have to worry
if he told you the truth that you gave him oral, i dont think he would lie about not having sex..
however, if you felt that you might have had unprotected sex with him, then you should test at 3 months for a conclusive result..
but dont worry i dont think he was lying :) .

If you are in doubt, you can take a single antibody test at 3month just to put things in perspective. .

Thanks loads for your replies :) i appreciate it.

I am glad that you (Kumar007) said you dont think he was lying, because i also wondered why he would tell me about the oral sex but lie about having full sex.

(Healthadvisory) I had a look at pictures of HSV1 and the sores dont look like that, so im not sure if it is?

Feel better thanks .

for a person who had a risk..a test at 6-8 week is a very good indication of their status
if negative, test again at 3 months for a conclusive result..3 months is conclusive not 6 months .

Thanks for your replies.

Also, I just remembered, he had small bumps all over his chin area which were weird and because he has dark skin i cant tell if they are red or not??! Is hiv common in nigeria? And are these bumps likely to be a symptom? He seems the type to be one to sleep around and that scares me so much. And he seemed quite aggressive and a nasty person so i am feeling very very down about going near anyone like that and letting me near me because i wouldnt if i was sober. And the scariest thing is that i dont rememebr anything  :-( feel so sick and depressed about this. An experience to learn from definitely, but im worried its too late already.

I have my tests at 4pm today and am terrified. Have done nothing all day except think about it :-/

Also, i have noticed 2 small bumps down below which itch and have sores on my mouth (not sure if they are just sores or from oral). . . and a thick stringy discharge (sorry for the details) but i had sex with somebody a few months ago and caught chlamidya from them so im not sure if the antibiotics just didnt clear that infection up ....or if i could have actually ahd sex with this nigerian man last month and caught chlamidya/warts from him.

This is making me crazy. and it doesnt look too good what ive written, but i have only had sex with 3 people in the past couple of months for the first time in quite a few years as i was going through a bad time so i dont want to sound like a sl*g.

Any advice?
Thanks loads

all of that is irrelevant.

the ONLY way to know one's status is by testing 3 months post exposure.
