Why would it scare you ,it states 3 months post exposure testing would be conclusive.

Persons at high risk who initially test negative should be retested 3 months after exposure to confirm results.
Teak you are scarring me...my test result was out of this range you have mentioned (4-6 weeks) ie. 9weeks. Then how accurate it is? & how much confidently I can face the next test? This is my question...

In an adult, a positive HIV antibody test result means that the person is infected, a person with a negative or inconclusive result may be in the “window for 4 to 6 weeks but occasionally up to 3 months after HIV exposure. Persons at high risk who initially test negative should be retested 3 months after exposure to confirm results
No u are wrong the doctor Edward hook he said 8 week to be sure
I don't make opinions, I just give the facts.
Ok teak, I can understand your 3month concept. But how accurate my 9week result? Will it change in future? As per getitright and LIZZIE LOU the chances is extremely low. What about your opinion? Give me hope..
No negative test is conclusive until 3 months post exposure.
You're welcome and have a great festive season.
Thanks getitright for giving me a hope on life. I will get tested soon and post my conclusive result on this same post. Hope it will be negative with god bless. Thanks again for getitright and LIZZIE LOU once again.
it is HIIIIIIIIIIIIIGHLY unlikely that your 9 week test result will change...but in order to obtain that "conclusive" result...you must test at 3 months (which you've passed that mark)
Ok LIZZIE LOU, that means still I have the chances to get positive is it? Oh! God I am really scared
Go for the test and collect your negative result. It will be negative I can assure you that.
3 months is the CURRENT testing guideline.
rvel270:
you can test now for a conclusive result. you do not need to wait and test at 6 months.
Because u have mentioned it's highly unlikely to change at 12weeks in your previous post. So I would like to be 100% out of this HIV fear. So can I go for last and final testing one more time? Or not required? Please give me some suggestion.
From the expert doctors here at medhelp.'NO I have never seen a negative result at 9 weeks turn positive at 3 Months" Dr handsfield and Dr sean cummings.
no test is CONCLUSIVE until 3 months post exposure.
I say this because the expert doctors have never seen a 9 week negative turn positive at 12 weeks and thats a fact.I am providing you with the most up to date accurate data. You have to realize that 3 months is ultra conservative in 2011.
Thanks getitright. By the way all your comment says to be tested at 3month post exposure to get a conclusive test result. But for my case you are telling that I am 100% negative based on 4th week and 9th week negative result. Is it sure that I am 100% HIV free?
You're 100% Hiv negative now.You don't require a test at 6 Months.You would be wasting your time.You don't have Hiv.
Thanks getitright77. Anyway it's my 4months and 20days from that exposure but I am planning to take the test after 6months. Will it b ok? So can I go with the same rapid test? Initially after 4weeks also I had a HIV test which is MEIA method, which came as -ve and followed by 9th week rapid test also -ve. But am still worried to go for the 6month test becoz I am experiencing lot of symptoms...
It is extremely accurate and highly unlikely to change at 12 weeks.
