3 weeks is no where near enough ..... test at 6 weeks if you can`t wait for three months ... but if you test at 6 weeks YOU MUST retest @ 3 months for a conclusive result ....
you test at 3 MONTHS...not because you have a soar throat...but because you had unprotected sex ! ! !
hello,
thanks, i think il get tested at 3 weeks just to be sure. Although i think the sore throat is from all the smokes and chilled drinks ive been having. I havent smoked for almost a day now and no beers etc and i feel my throat getting better.
Thanks a ton for all your answers, will get tested just to put my mind at ease.

Default 6 week negative 3rd generation Rapid HIV test
Morning,
The key feature about this Forum is that we individually address the facts that are presented to us rather than just giving a generic - yes/no approach. So you will get some variation in what Jose and I say.
99% of people will form antibodies to HIV 1 and 2 by 6 weeks. In the EU the rapid tests are licensed for conclusive results after 12 weeks - however we know that they are better than that - hence the apparent conflict between what Jose says and what I have said.
If you were to have a very very high risk exposure - ie being a gay man who had had receptive anal sex with ejaculation by the other person into the rectum and that person was known to be an untreated HIV positive then I would recommend testing either with a DUO repeat at 8 weeks or a rapid test at 12 weeks - although I would not anticipate the result changing - just healthy paranoia. Hope that explains things.
best regards, Sean
i agree with Teak , why have random unprotected sex??? test at 6 weeks that can be the soonest ... 6 weeks is a good indication and then again @ 12/13 weeks for the conclusive result ....
No. A risk is a risk and the only way to know your status is by testing.
Somehow Im really worried, isnt there any other definite test which I can get done earlier? I did read that chances of getting infected are very low, and when I asked the guy he said he doesnt have HIV/AIDS. But the sore throat got me thinking, what if....?
No. Get your 3 month test.
