Has anyone had a rash and tested negative for HIV?
My exposure is stated in my other post, but I am really nervous and want to hear what other people have expierienced while they were waiting for their window period to finish. I had a symmetrical rash on both my knees
, and muscle aches. The muscle aches only come once i stretch my muscle though but last a few seconds and then go away. Anyways, please help me as everyone here knows, it´s very hard to deal with this. And can anyone tell me the specific name of the test I should ask for at 6 weeks?
and saw that I had a rash on both of them. They didn´t itch that strongly, but scratching it really made it feel better. I just want to get tested now :(
Also, can you describe the rash? Mine was light red to pale, and lasted a couple hours. The one of my ankle camee seperately, and then last night I had a small one on my elbow which went away in an hour.
Yes I had a rash all over my stomach. You couldn't really see it but you could feel it and it iched. It lasted about a week. They say that a rash due to ARS does not itch but I was still terrified. I had a sore throat and achy muscles and joints. But I tested negative at 13.2 weeks after exposure.
I don't think you need to worry. Your risk was low. Did you replace the condom once it broke? If so then you don't need to worry. You can get a test at 6 weeks that is pretty reliable but you won't get a conclusive result until 12/13 weeks post.
I was too paranoid and asked to stop after the condom broke. So that was it. That moment was the moment I lost my virginity too. I don´t know if there was cowpers fluid present or not. How much earlier does that come when there is an ejaculation? Right before ,or can it come out even when there is just a erection that started maybe 5 minutes prior? Well I´´ll be in the US again (AT LAST!) in 3 weeks, so then I can get tested.
the rash is supposed to be on the trunk of the body, and not itch.
As to your question reg. having a rash and testing negative. I am sure it happens often, when you consider the millions of people that go though this scare per year. The odds are in favor of people having rashes and not really having ars.
I had a big rash of 2.5 inch like sunburn at week 7-8 with 2-3 small pimples with pus on it on the upperback.
at week 17 rash is still there with no itching.
tested negative at week 17(one day short).
this was one from the long symptom list.
I had a rash on my chest, but it was hives. I get hives when stressed out or scared or upset etc. Hives is very commonly triggered by emotions. I tested negative at 3 weeks. Hopefully it will be negative when I go for my 12 week.
people have rashes ALL the time and the OVERWHELMING majority of times the reason has nothing to do with HIV. Besides, symptoms or lack thereof is not diagnostic of HIV infection. The only way to know for sure is to take a test. Stop torturing yourselves by asking about symptoms and DEFINITELY do not go searching on the internet for examples of HIV rash. No good can come of it. You will only fuel your own fears and OCD/obsession with this. Stay off the internet, get productively busy and take your test. Really.
this is the first time I have ever had a rash. I am worried because it was symmetrical (both elbows, both knees) which means its origin is a virus. I wish I could get tested now, but I still have a long time to wait for my window period to be up. I didn´t have a fever though and it didn´t itch, that´s the only thing that´s keeping me borderline sane at the moment.
I am quite sure that this is not the first time in your entire life that you have had a rash. You are starting to become irrational. I looked at your earlier post and your risk is minimal at best. Basically you had a brief exposure when the condom failed and the penis was pulled out immediately after that. While you do need to test, you should know that the odds are very much in your favor that you have been infected with HIV. The virus is difficult to transmit and the brief exposure you describe is not likely to result in transmission. Wait the 12 weeks and get tested and collect your likely negative result. In the meantime, don't torture yourself with examining every single little thing on your body. Symptoms or lack thereof are not diagnostic of HIV infection anyway. Only a test at the right time will provide you with conclusive answers. For what it's worth, your rash has nothing to do with HIV. If you are worried about it go see a dermatologist.
