Hi..may i know what is ur result...coz i experience the same thing post exposure.tq
It's ANXIETY. Let go. breathe.
I agree, it's anxiety. Strata gave you particularly good advice.
There is no correlation between HIV and rapid heart rate.
Unless you are walking around with a heart monitor on, I'm guessing that you take your pulse when you're actively thinking about HIV. The spike in heart rate is almost certainly due to anxiety (i.e., an anxiety/panic attack).
That being said, a spike to 120BPM is significant and could pose a health risk, in an of itself, especially if you are older (resting and max heart rate decline with age) or have any other potential risk factors for heart attack.
Judging by your previous posts, it seems your exposure risk was near-zero, if not definitely-zero (PROTECTED insertive vaginal with a woman of unknow serostatus; a recently healed cut on penis was exposed to vaginal fluids). In addition, you've taken PEP for the exposure, which greatly reduces the risk on transmission if taken within 36-48 hours (animal studies have shown it is significantly less efficacious if started 48-72+ hours post-exposure).
Your risk of transmission is likely .0005 * .2 = 1/10,000 at WORST, EVEN IF WE ASSUME THAT YOU HAD UNPROTECTED SEX (no condom) AND THAT THE WOMAN WAS INDEED HIV+. Your real risk is near 0 and did not warrant PEP or follow-up testing.
That being said, the anxiety seems significant in your situation, and you need to call the doctor you are seeing for PEP follow-up ASAP. Tell him/her about your HIV fears and the panic attacks you are suffering.
At the moment, the anxiety is posing a significantly greater health threat than HIV.
I have never heard of that correlation personally before but I am sure others will chime in on this one. Thats the thing about the symptoms, you cant rely on them, because some have them, some dont, and then those same symptoms related to hiv are related to hundreds of other common things moreso than hiv. Goodluck.
