Here is my timeline - I had potential exposure. 3 days later I started nPEP. I did it for 2 days. I stopped for 4 days. And have done it everyday for about 6 weeks (because of some repeated exposure). I have now stopped for 2 days. When can I test for HIV
You needed to take the medications as prescribed. Missing four days will significantly decrease the effectiveness of the nPEP, very possibly completely making it ineffective. nPEP must be started within 72 hours of an exposure and is usually only prescribed to people who have had a risk involving a KNOWN HIV
Testing at 3 months after your last dose will yield a conclusive result.
Keep in mind that, while you may have had a risk, infection isn't a guarantee. Besides, it sounds like you don't know the status of your partner anyway. Most people do NOT have HIV.
