Help! Could I have contracted HIV from this contact?

About 6 weeks ago, I had contact with another man and Im worried about exposure.

I did not have oral or anal sex, the only contact was through touching, masturbation, and kissing.  I didn't give oral, but did briefly receive oral w/ a condom on.  As I was receiving oral, I was masturbating the guy (he also had a condom on).  My biggest concern is that when the condoms were not on yet, his penis could have brushed up against my penis or could have brushed up on my skin where there could be an open sore/cut.  I have had moderate dry skin this winter and I am worried that I could have itched it and broken the skin (w/ or w/o blood) before, so that when his penis touch my skin any precum/fluid on it might have infected me. I tend to itch my skin b/c its dry. The dry skin was behind my knees and on my thighs. How likely is infection through this type of contact?

We then removed the condoms and masturbated ourselves until ejaculation.  I worry that I might have gotten some bodily fluid on my hand while I was masturbating.  Is infection possible like this?

After I got dressed, and drove back home,I took a shower.  While in the shower, I started to itch my legs and it started to bleed.  Could there have been some bodily fluid residue that was still there so that when I itched my skin it mixed with my blood?

About 2 weeks after I started feeling sick I got a sore throat, headache, slight cough, loss of appetite, and one day I had muscle aches (after working/standing 7 hours). I have been around a sick friend and I work in a public atmosphere so Im not sure if I got sick from there.

I also noticed that I have what looks like dry skin on the tops of my hands. Its red (w/ red spots), flaky, itchy, and dry feeling.  I tend to get dry skin this time of year, but not on my hands.  Could this be the HIV rash or just dry skin?

The guy told me he was HIV-, but he could have just made that up or not known.

How soon can I get tested to get an accurate result?

Thanks so much!

This was a no risk exposure.  Let’s break things down. for starters, your partner told you he did not have HIV.  Most people do tell the truth.  Even if he did however, there is no risk to you from the exposures you describe.  Condom protected sex is safe sex and no risk. Similarly, so is mutual masturbation, even if you happened to get each other's genital secretions on one another, as is very common when persons engage in  mutual masturbation.  No one has ever gotten HIV from the sorts of exposure you describe. That you scratched yourself until your skin was broken does not change this.

You have no medical reason for testing related to the exposure you describe.  If you feel you must for your own peace of mind, an HIV test taken at this time would detect over 98% of infections acquired 6 weeks ago and, given the low risk of infection at all, should you get tested, the negative result I am confident you will be will provide complete assurance that you did not get HIV.

Hope these comments are helpful to you.  EWH

Thank you very much for your response.

I just have one other question, just to clarify that I am understanding this.

Is there any risk if the precum/secretion got on my skin where there was a previous open cut caused by itching dry skin? (w or w/o bleeding)

Thats probably what Im most worried about.

Thanks again, I really appreciate your help.

No, the presence of a cut on your skin does not change my assessment in any way.  No risk.  EWH
