Hep B and HIV

Hi,

I have been watching this forum for quite sometime now and I must it has really helped me thru some extremely stressful weeks. I do have a question.

After my possible exposure back on Sept 15th 2007, I have had a few tests which have all come back negative (ELISA @ 3 wks, ELISA & DNA PCR @ 5 wks, ELSIA @ 9 wks). My most recent tests were 12/27, approx 14 wks, HIV was negative, however Hep B antibody said borderline postive and to retest Hep B in 6 wks. Whereas my previous Hep tests were all negative back in Oct '07.

My question is

1-With Hep B borderline positive, can I still have confidence that 14 weeks HIV negative is conclusive or do I still need to be concerned?

Thank you

Then take it to the HBV forum. This is not the forum and you are HIV negative.

SLow down teak. Obviously I am confused as is 99.9% of the people on here. Thats the purpose of the forum. I posted a question in here regarding Hep B, since that was the topic.Lay off the "I am all mighty bit"

most of the time drs will retest on positive readings just to clarify things sometimes anxiety levels can cause blood test levels to read higher numbers

trust me when i tell u, stress and anxiety can cause muscle and joint pain too.  been there done that.  the body feels the tension and worry and expresses itself in odd ways.  look up somatization disorder and you may find some interesting answers.  hypos have all kinds of odd symptoms that can't be diagnosed.  ur hiv neg-all the test u had wouldn't miss it-if it was there it would have been found. and i'd trust the docs on hep...that's why they have md behind their name.

my 1st hep test was approx 5 weeks post exp. which was negative. This last hep test was at 14 wks post exp. which the say is borderline and to retest in 6 wks.

The only one confused is you. You're negative. Move on. It's funny how you say one thing on one forum and then you come here and start your unwarranted worries on this forum. Move on.

I took my hiv test 18/28 dys post exp dna by pcr- undetected, rapid antibody test 5,6,7,9,10,and 12 weeks post all neg. I am still experiencing muscle and joint pains and I thought it may be Hep B and I sure as hell hope its not HIV related. I took my hep a,b,c test at 6.3 weeks, and my doctor as well as dr. hook stated this was conclusive .Hopwe they are right.Confused? do u mind if I ask u how many days post exp. you took your hep b test?

for anyone concerned about hep b, go get a vaccine.  I work in the healthcare sales industry and it is required because of what I do, but it makes sense for everyone.  why not?  it is out there and effective...then you never have to worry.  your doc may ques if you are not at risk, but sex can be a very small risk-blood exposure mostly...very rare.
hassy-don't know ur risk, but i wouldn't worry

if u don't mind me asking, what was ur exposure?  i'd agree w/ shadow on hiv.  there have only been a few rare cases of healthworkers testing pos for hiv late because of hep c, not hep b
