Hi, I am really nervous about potential HIV infection and need help

Hi Dr Sean,

I am a 33 year old male. Almost around 20 days back I had the sexual encounter with a girl in Nigtclub in Taiwan.  This is the only sexual encounter I ever have had with anyone other than my wife. I am confident that I had the protection on but I am not 100% sure. On the very next day I had some tonsils, although I have history of tonsils. A week later I had a upset stomach. I got HIV RNA PCR done on 8th day and it was negative. So were the tests of all other STDs. My doctor assured me that everyrhing is fine and  I should not worry about anything. But I continue to be nervous as I continue to have symptoms such as sore throats and upset stomach. On 18th day, I also got the duo test done (HIV 1 and 2 antibodies and p24 antigen) and it was also negative. I am really worried if I am infected. Although negative results so far are comforting but the ongoing symptoms are making me freak out. I would really appreciate any advice. Thanks

Only the head of your penis needs protection so that must have happened otherwise the condom would have fallen off. Correct?
