High Risk - scared!

GUK
Hi guys, ( UK guy here ) 1 month ago i was really drunk and stupidly slept with another guy unprotected. ( I know this was highly dangerous and would do anything to go back and chage this ) I was the receptive partner. This person was not a stranger, they are a friend, they had just come out of a 2 1/2 year relationship ( which i know doesnt make it any better )

I found this forum straight after worrying about the exposure, i have asked this guy about my concerns, he tells me not to worry, that he doesnt have any STD's or HIV and that he is completly healthy.

3 1/2 - 4 weeks after possible exposure i get a rash on my torso, it started off as a couple of spots, which dissapeared, then a couple more appeared on the other side, it would go on like this for a couple of days, sometimes the spots would only be there for an hour or so, and when scratched they become bigger and start to welt a little bit, a couple scabbed over. Then i had an all over body itch, ( arms, legs ect ) which became very itchy, and once itched small spots would appear and then go after a short time.

Aside from this wierd rash, i have had no other symptoms apart from the extreme stress i am currently going through.

I will go for a test at 3 months, as thats what the UK gives you, there will be no point in me going before hand if i am going to be told to come back at three months.

I just hope i am ok.

Any coments on this would be much appreciated...

Just to update and get further comments. The rash i seem to be getting is now mostly located under my arm pits. It only breaks out mainly in the evening, ill get the odd spot here and there, the rash is never there for more thank a couple of hours.

Does an ARS rash look quite widespread, and does it last on your body, and not come and go all the time??

Thanks for that Link, You can see why alot of people think they may have contracted HIV, when symptoms are so similar to loads of other things.

Once again thanks, fingers crossed i will ok when i go for the test.

Good luck, I am sure it is just anxiety. Everyone gets in when they think they have been exposed. It is natural.

Fredfunk, thanks so much for your reply and support. I was always under the impression the UK clinics told you only to come after 3 months. But i have probly read wrong. And also i didnt know about this antigen test.  I will go to the clinic next week, as my local NHS direct clinic is only open on a tuesday evening.

Don't put your self under 3 months of torture. Go now as antigen can be picked up in the blood within 3 weeks. The 3 month test you refer to test for antibodies. A negative antigen test will but your mind at ease. By the way anxiety causes you to itch all over your body.

Thanks for the response, like i say the rash started at just after 3 weeks, and came up as a few spots at a time, and they came and went on different parts of the body. one came out on the fold of my arm, almost like a bee sting. My entire body was feeling really itchy, and like i say rashes appeared after itching.

What exactly does hives look like? i thought hives was quite blotchy... - although i am hoping this is down to hives, as i have never felt stress like this, i have got a permanant knot in my stomach, and my throat feels tight, only relieving when i sit down and relax and calm myself down.

Like i say, Although i am extremely worried, i will wait for the 3 Month mark, as i dont see a point in going at 6 weeks say and then being told to go for another, i feel its a waste of resourses.

Thanks for reading my post, and further comments are much apprecaited.

Sounds like hives caused by your stress. Hives can cause an itchy spotty rash and can pop up any where on your body.
