Hiv Blood in fridge

by jimn1, Jul 05, 2009 03:35AM
Good morning I am new to all this but since living in digs with a gay guy who frequently gets laid without protection (yes I have warned him on many occassions and although a good friend I have told him I going to go elsewhere!!). Anyway yesterday I went to the fridge to get some cheese to make a sandwich and whilst eating it I noticed some blood. At first I thought it was my gums (which bleed frequently as I have gum disease) but then I noticed some blood on the rest of the cheese (quite a bit) and also on the packet itself. I managed to get some blood also under my finger nails which freaked me out.
I spoke to my friend and he said he cut himself rather badley cooking a little earlier but didn't realize he had got blood anywhere on the food (This was just a short time before I opened the fridge)

Can hiv blood live long in this enviroment as it was in a fridge? I heard it can last for some while in a fridge!!
As I said I got quite a bit under my fingers nails.
I also eat some which was on the cheese (I had bleeding gums at the time)

Now normally I don't freak otherwise I wouldn't be living in the same place as this guy but on this occassion it has scared me rotten.

Please advise if I need to get test or if I am getting worried over nothing. I don't want to test if not needed. I had one myself just over 6 months ago and don't want to go through that again.

Can someone with quite a bit of knowledge on the subject let me know as this is why I am coming to this forum.
