like) where I could not get out of bed as I would shiver way to much. The next day I was a fatigued and still had the sore throat for another week or so. I also would get a pain in my left armpit but could not locate the lymph node, it would also feel uncomfortable on and off. Then I felt it in my groin area above my penis where the lymph nodes are located but could not find them (not sure if looking correctly). It is now August 25th and my lymphnode in neck seams to have shrunk. I still feel it in my groin on and off though.
So I am very afraid that I have HIV. I am going to get tested but have not been able to with my work schedule yet. I want to know if the dates work out for the symptoms.
June 2rd encounter
July 22nd Night Chills and wicked sore throat that lasted strong for 1 1/2 weeks and then on and off until now.
Also soreness in lymph node in armpit on and off
Also soreness in lymph node in groin on and off.
If you get tested now....your results will be a VERY good indicator of your final, conclusive test results (at 3 months post exposure). Also, that while you certainly placed yourself at risk....your risk isn't as high as you've probably convinced yourself of.
Likely, this will be a GREAT learning experience for you.....get tested and move on...and from now on...USE a CONDOM! Also...always have a discussion with your prospective sexual partners about their status BEFORE the heat of the moment.
As for symptoms....honestly...do not give them ONE more thought. They are IMPOSSIBLE to gauge risk by....a huge portion of people that end up testing POS never have one symptom...and a HUGE majority of people that present to the ER fearing HIV b/c of their symptoms end up testing NEG.
Thank you both for your encouragement. I did forget to mention that on August 6th my calves also cramped up and have been aching since along with getting muscle aches in other muscles since then. My knee joints have also all of a sudden been very sore since the same time period.
In addition the person I had sex with was also having her period adding the the issue.
I know I need to get tested and will as soon as I can get to the clinic. I hope it is anxiety and believe me the lesson is learned and hopefully with a good outcome.
I have to ask though why do you think so strongly that I am ok. (I realize I have read a lot on the early symptoms and that is why I am posting)
Symptoms mean NOTHING when it comes to HIV. The "symptoms" that you described could've been from anything, especially ANXIETY. When your fears and worries consume your mind it can cause you to over analyze things that are happening to your body. Things that you wouldn't even have given any thought to prior to your sexual encounter. The only real way to know where you stand is by getting tested. But please, do not start jumping to conclusions simply because minor things such as a sore throat and swollen lymph nodes (things which are VERY common for anyone at any time).
