Hiv scare

I had an exposure of unprotected vaginal sex with a woman of unknown status 11 weeks ago. At around the 7th week or so i developed a headache that lasted for 6 days and was told it was just dehydration. Along with that I had these red spots on my stomach and an overall unwell feeling. At just about 9 weeks I had a test at a clinic where they drew blood from my finger and gave me results in 20 minutes. The doctor said it was negative, but after a week or two i started to question that result. Now I have been feeling very unwell and fatigued and know something is up.

1) what are my chances I have contracted hiv.
2) I know its past the time of initial ars symptoms, but does a person with hiv typically feel unwell at this point.

Any advice or help would be much appreciated.

A 4th Gen test is conclusive/definitive at 4 or more weeks after exposure. Any newly infected person would have detectable antigen or antibody at that point. I'd say your 9 week rapid test is close to 99 percent conclusive and you don't need another test.

Thank you very much for your response. I would like to get one more test to confirm my status. I will go to my doctor who uses a fourth generation test I believe. When would be an appropriate time to do that to get an accurate result?

I know the 9 week negative is a good indication but I can't shake these symptoms and feelings.

Symptoms appearing at 7 weeks is far too late for the onset of ARS symptoms. If they occur at all they happen within 1 to 2 weeks.

You did have a risk, but your rapid test at 9 weeks is very very accurate and you should trust the result according to experts.
