Hiv test help!

i test hiv neg today it has been 6 monts since i had hiv risk, when i test the nurse told me to put this stick in my mouth and rub it against my gums for 2 minutes but since there was a lady outside waiting she said after only a minute or less that that was enoguh i want to know if the tester couldnt have gotten enough of whatever they needed from my gum would the test come back neg even if i was positive or unconclusive please helkp i do not understand this hiv test thing
