Home Access Hiv - 2

I know I said I was not coming back till after 3 months, but I thought this information would be helpful.  

I asked Home Access if there test also looks for HIV - 2 and they responded with a "YES".  So even though the box says HIV - 1 they still are testing for HIV - 2 as well.

I got this info from a doctor on thebody.com. It seems like HIV-1 antibody tests will detect HIV-2 infections about 70% of the time. If risk for HIV-2 infection exists, HIV-2 specific antibody tests should be used.

If you live in the U.S., are at low-risk for infection, and have not had exposures to people at risk for HIV-2 infection (predominantly people from endemic regions in Africa), then there is no need for aggressive screening for HIV-2 infection.
