In an adult, a positive HIV antibody test result means that the person is infected, a person with a negative or inconclusive result may be in the “window for 4 to 6 weeks but occasionally up to 3 months after HIV exposure. Persons at high risk who initially test negative should be retested 3 months after exposure to confirm results
Please don't waste your time with 6 Month testing because there is no such thing.3 Months is fine.
Thank you so much I would like to just have this sorted for various reasons and I just hope all turns out good. I will return for the a 3 month or 6 month check up just to finalize the window period routine. Either way thanks :)
highly unlikely to get changed. However 8 weeks is not at all conclusive.
An 8 week negative is excellent with better testing we have today but 12 weeks is conclusive.
All I want to know is if in fact it is conclusive/accurate enough since there's so many confusing answer to whether 8 weeks results in a reliable response or not.
3 month mark is recommended especially in the responses I get to my personal questions yet my question is not answered. I know the obvious 6 month is best, 3 month is conclusive and some even argue sooner is equally as conclusive (based on online research I have done) yet my answer is still not being answered that is why I posted this question. True I have been here long enough since last year I asked a similar question about how accurate at a 10 week mark and you just told me I was at no risk and I asked still if it was accurate and or conclusive. You're right I have been here long enough and yet I still have not received a straightforward answer from someone, maybe if I did I wouldn't be asking.
You've been coming here long enough to know when you can obtain a conclusive test result.
