I am not sure if my symptoms are HIV related

I am not sure if my symptoms are HIV related

I am a 38 year old male married. On June 11 i had sex with two CSW (male transvistites) one was chinese and the other singapourian i guess. I was the insertive party, and I have used a condom in both encounters which hapened within two hours. Both of the CSW refused to share their HIV status with me. There was no oral sex. Over the last 33 days since this exosure i have had the following symptoms:
* sore throat and tonsils (still ongoing), fever lasted for 10 days on and off, Sweats and chills for 10 days, Body ache and fatigue still ongoing.
* back of head and neck sharp pain, loss of apetite for two weeks and lost 10 lbs.
* enlarged lymph nodes (cervical, submental, submaxillary, Dizzy and lack of concentration still ongoing
* red moles or pimples on the side of my leg about six of them small in size and the Doc prescribed corticosteroids for it!
* Back pain near the kidney areas and front pain near the spleen and liver areas. I have taken PCR RNA test after 41 hours of expousre it was negative. I have taken ELISA HIV 1&2 screening test at 4-weeks but no western blot and the result is negative. I am planning to take another test at 8-weeks.

This whole time i have not been with my wife as i am afraid to infect her, first do i have hiv and second can i be with my wife?

You had condom-protected sex.  That means there was no measurable risk of HIV infection.  Further, the test results you have had prove with almost 100% certainty you didn't catch HIV.  Therefore, you symptoms are not due to HIV, as your own provider probably told you.  You should follow up with your own provider about your symptoms and their cause.

I never guarantee someone isn't infected, but I from what you say, from the standpoint of HIV, I see no reason you cannot have sex with your wife.  But it sounds like you could have some other viral infection such as infectious mononucleosis, which is sexually transmitted.  So you need to follow your provider's advice on this.

Finally, your CSW partners refused to tell you their HIV status and you still went ahead and had sex with them??.  What iwere you thinking??!!

Good luck--  HHH, MD

Dear Doc, thanks for the reply, i actually asked CSW about their status afterwards as this was my first time with this type of sexual encounter and i did not know any better i guess.

What is the mono sexual disease you nentioned that i have as my doctor did not tell me that. I also forgot to tell you that i have red rash fungi type under my arm its and some white infection on the inside of my mouth on the lip not the tong.

Your feed back will be highly appreciated.

Infectious mononucleosis is caused by something called Epstein Barr virus (EBV).  Sex is a common but not exclusive mode of transmission; it can also be acquired by kissing.  Other viruses also can cause similar sympoms.  Ask your doctor if you need more detail, and also about the other symptoms you describe.  Advice from a personal health care provider who actually has examined someone is always more reliable than advice from a distant online source, including this forum.

Hi Dr. H.

As a forum regular, I noticed you had mentioned "TEAK". On a search, I discovered the individual's profile. The profile indicates he is a 51 year old HIV positive man and paramedic.

Cheers

I don't know what you have; I don't get into speculation about causes or problems other than HIV and other STDs.  Sure, feel free to have another HIV test; but with the low risk exposures you describe and the negative 4 week result, it would be surprising if you have HIV.  Your own health care provider is the best place for advice on both questions.

Dear Doc,

I have tested for HIV 1 & 2 and P24 antigen at exactly 5-weeks today and the results came back negative is this reassuring or is it out dated info as the P-24 means nothing really.

Dear Doc,

I have tested for HIV 1 & 2 Screening and P-24 antigen today and result negative at 5-weeks is this a waste of time as p-24 is not accurate at 5-weeks?

The results prove you don't have HIV.

Don't post follow-up question on other peoples' threads.
