Hi,

i was wondering the same thing and i saw this post:

http://www.medhelp.org/forums/HIVSupport/messages/2148.html

However, I also researched more about this and it seems that in a couple of cases of occupational exposures to both Hep C/HIV at the same time, the HIV seroconversion was delayed (> 6 months).

So i guess simultaneous infection "might" delay seroconversion due to the immune system being overwhelmed by 2 new virus to combat but pre-existing infection of HCV is probably not an issue. I also called several testing places and they say they've never been told in their training about that ...

The bottom line is that nothing proves that HCV delays HIV seroconversion.

Last thing is that obviously the other way around is true. If you have HIV and get infected by HCV then your HCV seroconversion will probably take longer.

Hope it helps
