A HIV Duo test that detects for both ag/ab to HIV 1/2 is generally prescribed by doctors as it is a more sensitive 4th generation test which will give you conclusive results in 6 - 8 weeks.
However try and get a PCR RNA/DNA test done along with this just to be extra sure that is what i did.
The 3 reasons they are not are - 1)more likely to give a false positive as it is very sensitive.
2)much more expensive than antibody tests & so not everybody would be able to afford it.
3)10 days required to obtain results.
Not because its futile or less sensitive.
I have done PCR-DNA test on 35th day post exposure, It came negatiev. Was it conclusive ?
But anyways, my throat and stomach condition is very bad. My cold and cough not getting relief since last three months and my stomach became very sensitive, though lose motions was for week only. But throat pain and swelling is very painful and made my life hell.
If i am negative, i will wonder what made me so much sensitive to these deseases ?
Sorry for jumping on the thread. Can he rely on ECLIA test coz that is the test i took 8 times!!!And they came negative.Do they have edge over DNA-PCR tests??
