Im infected

Hi All,

Can anyone help me ..please....I had sexual encounter with prostitute unsafe oral sex(she gave me) ...but safe intercourse with condom... in Thailand 3 months back(Nov'10)....after coming back from there ....i was all fine for 20 days... but in the month of Dec'10 ..my health conditions started to get worse...and then on 13 dec'10 i was diagnosed with hepatitis A....and then ....later on with Hepatitis E....I went back home for the treatment...and then undergone certain other test...like ANTI HCV (ELISA) ,ANTI HBcAG IGM and ANTI HBcAG IGM (ELISA)....and all kinds of other blood test EXCEPT HIV test....all the other tests came negative......my Hepatitis got cured...after a month...but after getting cured ...now I have dry cough for almost 2-3 weeks now and lots of chest pain and fatiuge.....CAN ALL THIS BE THE SYMPTOMS OF HIV?....AS I NEVER UNDERGONE ANY HIV ELISA TEST...WAT ARE THE CHANCE OF BEING HIV INFECTED??

You had no HIV risk from them. The symptoms are from another cause, but not HIV.

Thanks a lot for ur reply...but after hepatitis....I even lost 10 kgs of body weight and 2 inches frm the waist and I think im still losing weight.....my problem is mydry cough is not getting cured and had  abdominal pain on my right side of the stomach from last 2 1/2 months... which my doctor says is spasm.....what do u think this all leads to?? Just explain does any of these test which I mentioned above help in diagnosing that IM NOT INFECTED wid HIV....PLeae help me IM VERY WORRIED AND SCARED ... DONT KNOW WAT TO DO???PLEASEE

When did you get tested for HIV for the last time, though?

I know this forum is exclusive for that......I feel that I might be infected thats the reason...I am requesting you, if you can please help..........last time i got tested FOR HIV was in June 2008...and after that this was my first sexual encounter  in almost 3 years and since then I have started to have all these problems.....and afraid what to do??CAN U PLEASE JUST LET ME KNOW WITH ALL THE ABOVE MENTIONED TESTS  WHICH I GOT IT DONE WITHIN 4-5 WEEKS OF EXPOSURE CAN...HELP ME FINDING THAT WHETHER I HAVE HIV OR NOT??OR DO I HAVE TO GO FOR A SEPARATE TEST FOR HIV???PLEASE HELP

Considering you didn't accidentally penetrate with your genital uncovered even once, you didn't have HIV risk and don't need to test.

i say.. why don't you get tested for HIV... the test you mention above is for hepatitis..  the enzyme linked immunosorbent assay or ELISA is used to detect the antibody or antigen in your serum sample.. ELISA may also aid in diagnosing HIV.. actually it's the screening test that is widely used.. and if ELISA can't detect a HIV antigen or antibody in your serum sample.. then you are not infected with HIV..

A test is needed when the condom he used broke or slipped and he penetrated with his penis unprotected even only once.

Thanks for the reply..guys...my only problem is that I have to go back home to get tested ...and that will take around 10-12 days...I am worried in the mean time....as my health conditions is getting worse and i feel that I am in big trouble because of the same.....can anyone just tell me that does any of the above tests help???as MY LIVER FUNCTION TEST WHICH I GOT  IT DONE ON 18 JAN'11 CAME ALL GOOD..BUT ALL MY OTHER TESTS WERE DONE ON 14 DEC'10 AND MY EXPOSURE  WAS ON 8 NOV'10....SO WORRIED DOES ANY OF THOSE DETECT ANYTHING??? AS I THINK IT TAKES AT LEAST 12-14 WEEKS FOR THINGS TO COME UP AND I HAVE ALMOST PAST THAT STAGE NOW...AND GETTING ALL KINDS OF PROB FROM DRY COUGH TO FATIGUE AND ABDOMINAL PAIN..SO FEELING VERY SCARED ???PLEASE HELP

You never had a risk of contracting HIV.

there are many factors on why you are having those conditions.. environment is most likely to have an impact on your health also your lifestyle.. ok.. HIV has 4 stages.. first is the incubation stage which is if you got infected, it is usually asymptomatic 2 and 4 weeks.. second stage is acute infection that averagely last for 28 days with symptoms such as fever, lympadenopathy, myalgia, malaise etc.. third is the latency stage which can show few or no symptoms and the last stage is AIDS which shows various symptoms of opportunistic infection. but as i said, there are many factors contributing to your health condition.. but really.. if your scared.. just get tested.. have your cd4 cell count.
