I'm very scared of having HIV

by disturbed_guy, Nov 06, 2009 07:37PM
Hi, I have had a cough for almost 2 months now, and it scares me to death that it may be HIV.
I had had a long lasting cough for many months in a row 2 years ago and then it stopped. At the time I thought it
was the heater in my bedroom causing the air to be dry or full of allergens and making me cough. But after getting
a bad cold about 2 months ago this new cough doesn't seem to go away again.
I also had a few mild recurrent fevers at the time of that cold, then I was left with this long lasting cough. A doctor prescribed me bronchitis medication.
I think I am at some risk for HIV. But I also have rhinitis and seem to have allergic cough
now and then, I sneeze a lot and dust, powder and other things make me sneeze.
Last time I tested for HIV was back in Jun/2005 and was negative. I am not like these paranoid people
who abuse their luck, that test many times up to the point they test positive for HIV.
I noticed the internet is full of contradicting or at least non unanimous info on HIV.
My doctor asked me to do an HIV but it came to me as a suggestion that may be because
long coughing is an evident symptom of HIV, which scared me.
Please help me relieve my fear, or at least give me accurate
info.
I will get tested next week.

i had a few oral sex without protection, being the receptor. at 2 times, had anal, without protection. these were the only times ever, since being negative in 2005.
i talked to one of the persons who did anal with me and he assured he tested negative. as for the other guy, i don't know, he seemed reckless, though was healthy.
anyway, i think even if he was + the risk of contracting in a relation that wasn't so vigorous may be low. i rarely have anal, these two however were exceptions.
i tested 3 times for hiv, all being -, but these were many years ago, the last one being 2005/jun.

another thing, due to my allergies back in 1998 i had a non stop cough for months too, back then it was because of the air conditioning in the building i used to work.
this new long lasting cough came as a result of a bad cold i had 2 months ago.

what i meant to say, idiotic woman, though i expressed it poorly, is that if i test one time negative for HIV i will be very happy with the result and i won't be coming back here to flood this forum with questions on which week i should get tested again, as it appears people often are not satisfied with their negative result and they want to test as many times as it takes for it to come off as a positive diagnostic.
