I am a 2nd year medical student. While doing the practicals with blood(Hb estimation and blood grouping) i accidently may have come in contact with the blood.Although i was wearing a pair of gloves.but the gloves was very thin and made of plastic(and NOT latex).15 min after the incidene,i disposed the gloves and washed my hand with soap.after washing i noticed a 1 cm cut on my finger(palmar surface)which was pain very very slightly. On careful examination i found it was broken skin on my index finger ,the cut ends were seperable but it was not bleeding nor i noticed any scab.it was my first experience so i was not careful while doing the practicals.i dont know whether there was blood on my finger or not before washing. i also dont know whether the gloves was tempered while doing practicals. i didn't feel any pain while doing the practicals though.
I am very concerned after the incidence.
As a medical student,if any patient with these concerns would have came to me,i would have said there is NO risk to motivate the patient although i know there is a risk.
Please dont consider me like a patient.i want to hear the truth and risk involved
